For Parents
Prescription drug abuse in Michigan is real. It’s growing, and it’s dangerous. But, you can make a difference in preventing your child from abusing prescription drugs. Here are some guidelines to follow:
- Monitor your prescription drugs, lock them in a secure place and dispose of them properly.
- Sharing of prescription drugs with family members or others is dangerous.
- Provide a good example to your child by not sharing your prescription drugs with family members or others.
- Talk to teens and young adults about the dangers of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. These are powerful drugs that, when abused, can be just as dangerous as street drugs.
