Disposal Events

The best way to dispose of expired or unneeded prescription drugs is through a qualified program such as Yellow Jug Old Drugs or other disposal program/event.  Check below for prescription drug disposal events in northern Michigan.

Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council launched a permanent multicounty-wide medication drug take back initiative to provide a convenient location for residents to properly dispose of prescription and OTC medications. The program was made possible by generous grants provided the Charlevoix County Community Foundation and Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation.  The funding was used to install permanent medication drop-off box at law enforcement offices to collect unused over-the-counter and prescription medications from households. Funding was also provided by the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office who voluntarily purchased their own drop-off box.   For more information about the Pharmaceutical Collection Boxes, please visit www.watershedcouncil.org  and click “Help Keep Medications Out of  our Waters” on the right side of the screen to see the list of drop box locations and items accepted for collection.
